The situation of children in Madagascar has worsened since the onset of the political crisis in 2009 and affects negatively children’s education, health, nutrition and protection. Children are indeed the most vulnerable as parents can no longer afford to send their children to school because education is no longer free and poverty levels have deepened. Many children from disadvantaged families are forced to leave school to work and meet the needs of their family, or because of health problems linked to malnutrition.
